Georgian Central Election Commission completes counting ballots at presidential election
By midnight of January 8, the Georgian Central Election Commission almost fully completed ballot counting at the early presidential election that took place on January 5. The commission processed data from 3424 polling stations.
According to the CEC, seven presidential contenders showed the following results: Mikhail Saakashvili – 52.21% (1,029,358 votes), Levan Gachechiladze – 25.26% (497,903), Arkady (Badri) Patarkatsishvili – 6.99% (137,877), Shalva Natelashvili – 6.42% (126,603), David Gamkrelidze – 4.02% (79,164), Giorgi Maisashvili – 0.76% (15,014), Irina Sarishvili - 0,19% (3,764).
There have been data on the number of people, who voted against all candidates. The turnout was 56.17%. 3,352,448 Georgian citizens were included in the voter lists.
