Ukraine will pay no more than $179 for gas Timoshenko
Government of Yulia Timoshenko will not allow signing an agreement on natural gas supplies to Ukraine in 2008 at a price exceeding USD179.5 per 1,000 cubic meters. The Ukrainian prime minister made the statement on March 11 in Brussels, REGNUM correspondent reports referring to Timoshenko's press service.
Timoshenko, in particular, informed that a Naftogaz of Ukraine Company delegation that is negotiating with Gazprom in Moscow, received a strict directive from the government. It is straightforwardly said in the directive that signing any gas price over USD179.5 per 1,000 cubic meters is prohibited — there can be no other price. It is also said in the directive that all natural gas that Ukraine received in 2007 has to be charged at a rate not exceeding USD130 per 1,000 cubic meters, including the gas that was pumped into underground storages last year and used today.
