Seimas deputy: Neo-Nazi march in Vilnius discredits Lithuania

Read it in Russian

On March 17, deputy of Lithuanian Seimas, member of Seimas Committee on National Security Rasa Jukneviciene (Conservatives) has addressed the head of State Security Department Povilas Malakauskas an inquiry “on discrediting the state.” The politician has questioned whether national security service is holding its own investigation of the neo-Nazi march in Vilnius downtown on March 11, 2008.

The politician also suggested that the action might had been “part of the plan to discredit Lithuania.” “Committee for National Security had been earlier informed that intelligence agencies of some unfriendly to Lithuania states are playing the antisemitic card to discredit Lithuania,” Jukneviciene's statement reads.

As REGNUM informed earlier, on March 11, Independence Day was celebrated in Lithuania. The night before the event, unknown vandals splashed paint on Soviet soldiers' memorial in Vilnius downtown. On March 11, a column of skinhead youths with Nazi insignia marched along one of downtown Vilnius prospects, shouting antisemitic and racist slogans.
