Transdnestr parliament gets interested in foreign policy course in Kosovo independence context
On April 2, deputies of the Supreme Council of the Transdnestr Moldavian Republic will hear about Transdnestr's foreign ministry's policy course in the context of Kosovo independence, recognized by a number of countries. On March 18, deputies addressed Transdnestr president Igor Smirnov requesting that minister of foreign affairs Valery Litskay is invited to the session, REGNUM correspondent has reported.
Deputies have requested a hearing on the prospects of development of political situation around Transdnestr, taking into account the geopolitical situation in Europe and in the post-Soviet space. Foreign office head will have to inform parliamentarians on his ministry's progress in establishing Republic's missions abroad. Deputies are also expecting to hear about foreign ministry's diplomatic activity that would help lift sanctions imposed on Transdnestr's economy.
“The information is important both to the deputies and the population. We know how events in the world unfold, so we have to better coordinate action of executive and legislative agencies of the state authority. To do this, we need to exchange opinions. We have to hold such sessions regularly,” chairman of the Supreme Council Yevgeniy Shevchuk commented during the session.
The Supreme Council's presidium has decided that heads of town and district councils be invited to the session of April 2.
