Lithuanian president: European Union must be more active in solving Transdnestr conflict
Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus is completing his visit to a NATO summit in Bucharest, Romania. As REGNUM was informed at the press office of the Lithuanian leader, Valdas Adamkus had talks with President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin who was also invited to the summit. Vladimir Voronin thanked Adamkus for the constant support of Moldova in the European Union and for “the assistance in going to a new stage in the relations with the EU.” The Lithuanian president in his turn called the Moldovan leader to continue carrying out the reforms that “can open the prospect of entering the EU for Ukraine and Moldova in the near future.” Valdas Adamkus also expressed hope for more active involvement of the European Union into the settlement of the Transdnestr conflict.
The press office of the Lithuanian president informs that on April 3 the European Commission called Moldova “an EU neighbor that made he biggest step forward” in its development.
