Rallies start because of plans to raise taxes in Lithuania
Mass rallies are being held in front of the building of the Lithuanian Government and the Seimas of Lithuania, today, on October 16, in Vilnius. According to a REGNUM correspondent, rallies are caused by governmental plans to raise a tax for employees and employers paid into the Social Insurance Fund by two percent ( ne percent for employer and one for employee, who pays the tax for employers). Currently the tax of employee is 30.98% and tax of employer is three percent.
Such governmental plans raised a storm of indignation of Lithuanian trade unions, which brought protesters to streets.
