The Pope makes a donation for restoration of Troitsky Cathedral in St. Petersburg
The Pope Benedict XVI has made a donation for the restoration of the Troitsko-Izmailovsky Cathedral in St. Petersburg, which was damaged by a fire in Aug 2006.

I would like to sincerely thank you for your donation for the restoration of the St. Petersburg Troitsko-Izmailovsky Cathedral, which is a unique architectural monument. Your contribution is a token of your sincere love for the Russian Orthodox Church, which is certainly a pledge of our future cooperation in the spirit of Christian fraternity and mutual assistance, says His Holiness Alexy II.
To remind, the fire damaged the central dome and two of the four small domes of the cathedral.
