President of the Ukrainian Football Federation Grigory Surkis received a letter signed by UEFA President Michel Platini about results of the inspection of Kiev National Sports Complex “Olympiysky” held together with the FIFA and UEFA in early September. “The stadium with its limited capacity and space for movement will not be capable of hosting Euro 2012 matches,” the letter says, a REGNUM correspondent is told at the Ukrainian Football Federation press office today.

“Exits from the stadium and reserve ways are partially blocked, the area for people moving around the arena, which significantly increases the danger for fans. The conclusion is unambiguous: the stadium with its limited capacity and movement area will surely be unsuitable to host Euro 2012 games,” the letter says. “That is why we believe and hope that Ukrainian agencies in charge will provide appropriate and immediate fulfillment of its decisions regarding the issue,” the UEFA president concluded.

Earlier, UEFA management claimed that a shopping mall, which is under construction near the sports facility now, be demolished.
