Russia cuts American poultry quotas starting September 2008

Starting Sep 1, 2008, Russia is excluding 19 US companies exporting poultry to the Russian Federation. Rosselkhoznadzor announced the decision on Aug 29, 2008. The agency's officials informed that laboratory tests revealed above-than-allowed levels of arseniс, Salmonella, E. Coli, and other harmful substances and organisms in the companies' poultry, head of Agriculture Ministry Alexey Gordeyev stated.

Besides, ''29 enterprises will be warned that they will have to shortly fix the situation'' that is unacceptable to Russian sanitary specialists.
