On March 9, Odessa geopolitical analyst, Professor, Doctor of Geography Vladimir Dergachev, speaking with a REGNUM correspondent, stated, that conflict between Ukraine and Transdnestr region and toughening of rules for export from the unrecognized republic can negatively affect results of parliamentary elections for ruling block.

“Ukraine has been delaying the problem solution for a long time and, finally, the conflict has coincided with elections. Even 10 years ago, it was obvious, that the unrecognized Transdnestr republic has been living through smuggling, but Ukrainian border areas lives on the same way. Ukrainian authorities tried to initiate solution of Transdnestr problem. But the existing conflict showed, that Ukraine is not ready for the role,” mentioned the scientist.

According to him, the problem solution lies not in “building of a turnpike near border within one night,” but in creating jobs in depressive border areas. Steps, made by Ukraine and considered by Tiraspol as economic blockade, will cause dissatisfaction of the Ukrainian areas, bordering with Transdnestr. Additionally, it will worsen the position of Ukrainians living in Transdnestr, believes the analyst. Also, the measures can worsen economic situation in Ukraine on the whole, and particularly in Odessa Region, he added.

“Ukraine is a country of criminal corrupted democracy. The countrys premier should start every morning with a pray for shadow economy, because main jobs are created by illegal businessmen and not by authorities in our state,” stressed Dergachev.
