On June 15, at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin has had meetings with leaders of Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan. As a REGNUM correspondent is told in the Russian leader’s press office, at the meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the presidents paid special attention to the problem of the Iranian nuclear dossier. Vladimir Putin proposed discussing recent Russia’s initiatives on solving the problem, particularly possible establishment of a joint venture to enrich uranium for Iranian nuclear power plants. The Russian president pointed out the right of any country in the world to implement their plans in the field of high technologies and use them for their development. However, it should be done in a way that rules out a possibility of stirring concern in the international community “on non-proliferation issues,” the Russian leader added.

Vladimir Putin proposed to have joint enterprises in oil and gas field. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad supported the idea. In his turn, the Iranian president thanked Russia for the position taken by it in the process of settling the situation over the Iranian nuclear issue and stressed necessity of further development of bilateral cooperation at the world arena, in economic and energy sphere.

In Shanghai, Putin also held meetings with President of Mongolia Nambaryn Enkhbayar and President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf. They discussed priority issues of developing the bilateral cooperation. Besides, the president of Pakistan asked Vladimir Putin to assist his country in joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
