Emzar Kvitsiani: Georgian society will speak about Saakashvili’s mother soon
President Saakashvili pronounced my name and mentioned my mother; Georgian society will gather and comes to him to speak about his mother soon, ex-Georgian presidential representative in Kodori Gorge, ‘Monadire’ (Hunter) home guard ex-commander Emzar Kvitsiani stated in an interview to Imedi TV-Channel. I would like to inform him with your help – we have excused nobody for talks about mother and we will never do it. He has no right to speak so only because he is a president. He speaks to everybody in such way and he gets away with it. He misled then whole country. He is the evil that hides behind the good, Kvitsiani stated.
Among his request he stressed retiring of ‘death squadrons’ commander’ Vano Merabishvili (Georgian Interior Minister – REGNUM). Reasoning from fact, how government thinks about mothers, I support mother of Sandro Girgvliani (employee of Georgian United Bank, killed by Georgian Interior Ministry officers – REGNUM) – it is very important for me, he added. We are always ready to fight against enemies; let they be external or internal one, who is sneaking up from behind back. At present, Okruashvili (Georgian defense minister – REGNUM) is our common enemy.
It is worth reminding, recently Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili stated to the press that the only one thing, which might be discussed by him with Emzar Kvitsiani and his supporters – former members of Monadire home guard – is conditions of their imprisonment. At that, Saakashvili used strong Georgian expression, which may be translated as a promise that the addressees’ mothers would cry. As it was informed earlier, on July 25, local patriarchs will gather in Kodori Gorge. According to Mr. Kvitsiani, they invited him to attend their council sitting, which will determine further actions.
In April 2005, Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili decided to disband ‘Monadire’ troop, stating that it was "usual loafers’ gang and that army troops should guarantee security of Kodori Gorge. In order to guarantee social privileges to local residents – members of the Monadire detachment, the minister proposed to subordinate it to Interior Ministry of Abkhazian Autonomous Republic (institution in exile – REGNUM). After that, head of pro-Georgian Abkhazian Government, which functioned in Tbilisi, Irakli Alasalania stated that disbanding the Monadire troop was a mistake and that the troop would be reestablished, after chosen Kodori Gorge residents will be retrained at one of Georgian defense ministry’s units. However, Alasalania’s position was rejected by Okruashvili, who stressed that the home guard would not be reestablished.
