ANS Group seeks justice lodging a suit against national media watchdog (Azerbaijan)
Lawyers of ANS Group of Companies (GC) lodged a suit against the National Television and Radio Council (NTRC) to the Economic Court of Azerbaijan; REGNUM was informed by the group’s vice president Seyfulla Mustafayev. It is said there that the decision of the NTRC on suspension of broadcasting of ANS TV and ANS CM Radio violates laws ‘On mass media’ and ‘On television and radio.’ Mustafayev stressed that the ANS GC is not going to use any other forms of struggle except for legal ones in order to restore justice.
In its turn, the NTRC informed that decision taken by it was fair one; it expressed assurance of its winning the trial, APA Agency informs.
It is worth reminding; the decision of the NTRC was supported by another governmental agency, although in a peculiar way – Azerbaijani Tax Ministry which arrested accounts of the ANS GC. According to majority of Azeri human rights activists, if the NTRC has practically 100% chances to win the process at local courts, its position will be unenviable at the European court.
